Erica is our virtual financial assistant and is always available to answer your questions, help you stay on top of your finances and make everyday banking easier.
Erica is available on the mobile app. To start a conversation, sign in and tap the Erica icon. You can chat with Erica by voice using your phone's microphone or on screen only with no microphone interaction. Whether you talk or type is totally up to you. To interact by voice, just tap the microphone icon in the chat window and Erica will start listening (you’ll know because the icon will pulse). To turn the microphone off, simply tap the microphone icon.
Erica can help you with things like:

  • Helping you find what you need in the app
Erica leverages the latest technologies, in advanced analytics and cognitive messaging to serve as your trusted financial assistant. Erica is able to consider a range of data within Bank of America, like your cash flow, balances, transaction history and upcoming bills, to help you stay on top of your finances.
Yes, right now, Erica is exclusively available in the Mobile Banking app (app versions 7.6 and above). Just download the app today to get started!

Erica is also planning to be available in Online Banking.
You'll receive the same confirmations as you do today for transactions conducted in the mobile app. You can also check all transactions in the mobile app and in Online Banking.
Erica learns from the conversations with you and other Bank of America customers and has a dedicated team that’s continually working to expand the capabilities offered.
For now, Erica is only available in English, but is expected to learn Spanish.
Yes, we keep a record of your conversations with Erica for quality assurance, to maintain an accurate account of your requests, identify opportunities to make Erica's responses more helpful and ensure Erica's performance is optimal. When you speak with Erica by voice, the discussions are recorded and saved for 90 days so they can be analyzed to help refine listening skills.
No, you will need to be authenticated through the app to be able to use Erica.
Yes. Your interactions with Erica are protected by the same industry-leading privacy and security features as the mobile app and Online Banking.

3 When you place a lock on your debit or ATM card via Online or Mobile Banking, it will prevent most types of card transactions from being processed until you take action to unlock your card. Any virtual cards linked to the locked card will also be locked. However, the lock will not stop card transactions presented as a new recurring or a previously scheduled recurring transaction by the merchant, transactions using other cards linked to your deposit account, or the posting of refunds or credit adjustments to your account. Additionally, transactions that occurred prior to locking the card will not be affected. Locking your card is not a replacement for reporting your card lost or stolen. This feature is available on the Mobile Banking app for iPad, iPhone and Android devices. Data connection required. Wireless carrier fees may apply.

4 Zelle should only be used to send money to friends, family or others you trust. We recommend that you do not use Zelle to send money to those you do not know. Transfers require enrollment in the service and must be made from an eligible Bank of America consumer or business deposit account to a domestic bank account or consumer debit card. Recipients have 14 days to enroll to receive money or the transfer will be canceled. Transactions typically occur in minutes when the recipient’s email address or U.S. mobile number is already enrolled with Zelle. We will send you an email alert with transaction details after you send money using Zelle. Dollar and frequency limits apply. See the Online Banking Service Agreement at bankofamerica.com/serviceagreement for further details. Data connection required. Message and data rates may apply. Neither Bank of America nor Zelle offers a protection program for any authorized payments made with Zelle. Regular account fees apply.
